Let's put some beef in your freezer!
We currently offer whole and half beef portions. Please email @springcrbeef@gmail.com to place an order. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your beef. We are now booking for April 2025 processing appointments.
Mid 2025 we plan to offer beef by the cut.
Common Questions:
How much beef do I need?
A rule of thumb is that a family of 4 can eat a half beef in 1 year ( assuming you cook beef 2 -3 times per week)
How much beef should I expect?
Our target live weight for a finished beef is 1,050 lbs. Typically, "take home weight" will yield 40% of the live weight. This means you will take home approximately 420 lbs for a whole beef and 210 lbs for a half beef (conservative estimate).
Actual weights will vary. If you would prefer a smaller or larger animal, we likely can accommodate your request.
If you elect to have a large portion of your cuts turned into ground beef, your yield will be reduced to ~30%.
What cuts can I get?
Typically a beef will provide 1/3 of its meat as steaks, 1/3 of its meat as ground beef and 1/3 of its beef as roasts and other cuts (stew meat, fajita meat, etc.)
You can select any cut that you would like, If you are a new customer or have never purchased a beef portion, a quick call to the processor can help you choose what you would like.
You also can specify things like steak thickness and the count the processor places in each package.
How much freezer space do I need?
A 7 cubic ft freezer is sufficient for a half beef.
How long will meat last in the freezer?
All cuts are vacuum sealed. Ground beef can either be vacuum sealed or in chub packaging. Both methods will result in quality meat in your freezer, lasting for atleast 1 year.
What if a half beef is too much for me.
If you are just cooking for 1 or 2 people, an eighth or a quarter portion is likely a better option. We challenge you to find a friend, family member, or neighbor to split a half with.
If you are not able to find someone to split a half with, please contact us. Though we cannot guarantee this, we will do our best to match you with someone who is also looking to split a half portion.
Pricing:
You pay based on the final live weight of the animal. After the animal arrives to the processor, it is weighed on state certified scales. We will send an invoice to you, based upon that weight. This ensures that you only pay for the beef that you purchase, and each animals' weight will vary. So, final prices are available 3 weeks before your beef is ready to be picked up.
Pricing for 2025 beef has not been set yet and is based upon market conditions for inputs. We have been in this business for years. Our experience is that our beef is noticeably cheaper - while higher quality - than buying at the grocery store. Better Beef. Lower price. A win-win.
Half beefs for 2025 are expected to be in the $1,100 - $1,400 range (total cost)
Your deposit is credited towards your final invoice.
You will pay the processor fee directly to them, separate and apart from the invoice for the beef. The total cost (Beef + Processing) will still be less than grocery store prices.
